Hi, not as far as I can see from its settings (see attached) - there's a specific rule which I would have thought would have applied not just to this version of CS, but to previous ones. Clearly something I don't understand or haven't yet come across. I've tried adding an exclusion. Anyway, if someo... |

I've found the restriction. It's set by an anti-ransomware program, Cyptoprevent.
Screenshot of registry keys attached.
I found that by searching the registry for 3CBE1D05-2ADC-4572-9B07-3711C065D3CB from the installer log.
But I can't see why v4.3.0 is unaffected. |

Hi, thanks, that shows there are none such in force, and I've not knowingly set any. As I noted, it seems strange that the msi for 4.3.0 runs, whilst that for 4.3.1 doesn't, when the restriction reported for the latter applies to *.msi in that location. There must be some difference between the two ... |

** I have snatched a copy of the msi file from C:\ProgramData\ClassicShellSetup64_4_3_1.msi and copied it to my desktop. This msi runs ok from my desktop. The install log shows that for this version SOFTWARE RESTRICTION POLICY: The path rule '{3CBE1D05-2ADC-4572-9B07-3711C065D3CB}' with image name '... |

I've read about this for zip files.
There's no unblock button in the Properties sheets... |

Thanks. I will have to ask someone on tenforums if they can post such as this is my only Win 10 PC. Installation works fine- except for v 4.3.1. I can confirm other msi's run normally. Here is the installation log for 4.3.1, and below that for 4.3.0: === Verbose logging started: 14/08/17 06:55:08 Bu... |

Hi, "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" when I attempt to install v4.3.1 on the Anniversary build 14393.1593 (latest) However v4.3.0 (re)-installs without problems. I've been using Classic Shell on Win 10 Pro x64 and earlier for some years. Some have in... |

Hi, thanks for confirming the behaviour. I note if I open the shortcut folder in explorer, such icons are blank, as you say.
The odd thing is I've only really noticed this the last few months, and finally decided to explore this- yet for many years, I've had many programs installed. |

Hi, quite a number of programs create shortcuts in the start menu whose target is a .url file. (E.g. properties of such a shortcut in the start menu show this as the target: "D:\File Management\FreeCommander XE\FreeCommander.url") Viewed in Classic Start Menu, these appear blank. (No icon)... |

Thanks a lot guys, appreciate the helpful responses. I've decided to pass on this in the end.. I'm happy to use the features beside the start menu.. whose appearance and features I like - but besides the issue mentioned, as I now remember when I tried an earlier version, the folder icons I've custom... |

Oh, and in some cases, the expanded menu covers the start button too (!) so with no start button, no hot corner, and no margin (which there is for some skins at the top of the screen) ESC or Win key are necessary to close Classic start Menu |

Thanks GauravK.. (2) is best, also can reduce icon size. (3) is definitely what I don't what. Ok, I could also put some things into another subfolder, but it's a mix of utilities with not a very obvious further grouping. There are 2 or 3 subfolders there already. I didn't know about the hot corner..... |

Hi, I'm used to being able to customise the icons of folders in the start menu. However, with Classic Menu, when I try that I don't get the icon but a white box. This works ok in Windows start menu, and Aston Menu. I've also tried rebuilding the icon cache. When would it refresh in Classic Menu? Tha... |

Hi, I have one folder in my start menu with many items in it. The columns expand fully across my laptop screen and completely occupy it, yet a few items are not shown. Moving my mouse to the right of the screen does not show these items. There is nowhere to move the mouse to to exit this display.. W... |
