The crash appears related to the "Recent Documents" folder. Maybe you have a link inside it to itself. I would suggest you clear the entire folder and see if the crashes stop. |

It has the ones that are part of the Classic Shell software. Any additional skins that you see on this forum are created by other people. You need to contact them for the actual source files and usage terms. |

Classic Shell will continue working for Windows 8 and 8.1. It is very unlikely that a future update to those OSes will break something. The problem is Windows 10, because there is a new version of it coming out every 6 months. Every update changes something that requires Classic Shell to be modified... |

Classic Shell does not make permanent changes to Windows. I don't know what other software you had installed that was causing your "classic shell" problems, but you may ask their support for help. Or it might just be a problem with your installation of Windows. A repair might help. |

The dumps show that you have a very old version of Classic Shell, and also for some reason the start menu and the Explorer extensions are from different versions. The start menu is 3.4.1 (5 years old) and Explorer is 4.2.5 (more than a year old). Try installing the latest version. |

Right-click on any of those items and select "Sort by name". You can also select "Auto arrange", which will keep them always sorted even after programs are added or removed. |

The width of the classic menu is only determined by the size of its elements and the padding in the skin. You can insert longer menu items or edit the skin to increase the padding. |

Does the search from the Windows menu work? Classic Shell uses the indexing service to find the settings. The folder with the settings is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Indexed\Settings\en-US See if it is enabled for indexing. |

The helper DLL does more than just update it's COM registration. It hooks into Explorer in a special way to make it possible for the start menu to launch as soon as you log in, not after 10 seconds (like other auto-start programs). That registration is lost between Windows updates. |

Since uninstalling Classic Shell doesn't solve your problem, it is very likely something got messed up in Windows itself. You need to register StartMenuHelper64.dll if you are using 64-bit Windows. ClassicStartMenuDLL.dll is not a COM DLL, so it doesn't need registration. |
