After being mildly irritated by the hover animation for the default Windows 8 start button, I finally decided to get around to replacing it with a version of the Windows 7 start button posted on the forums here. I'm now being slightly less irritated by that button's hover animation. I'd love to have... |

It isn't "Windows 7" style either. I purchased a copy of the international version of 8.1, and I had exactly the same thing show up until I finished coercing everything into American English alone. I assume it looks the same in Windows 10 as well. |

That completely cuts out the various user directory and system shortcuts, unfortunately. |

Ever since the most recent update to Windows 10, I've seen a lot of people complaining about how the start menu was changed to always have the All Apps menu expanded, and asking if there's a way to get the old style back. If they're not using tiles, I recommend Classic Shell to them. Classic Shell i... |

When "Customize taskbar" is enabled, the color of the Show Desktop button on my taskbar changes to black, regardless of the color or texture settings for the rest of the taskbar. It does respect the same settings for opacity as on the rest of the taskbar, though, so I can have transparent ... |

Okay, I see. There just happens to not be any explicit accelerators that don't use the first letter, then, but if there were that letter would be highlighted instead. |

Okay, that does work.
The accelerator underlining still does seem weird. At least on my system, it looks like by default, only the Control Panel, Help and Support, and Run links get the underlining when you press Alt. |

It's not jumping between them, it's just jumping to Computer and sitting there no matter how many times I press Alt-C. Computer doesn't have the accelerator underline, either.
Alt-R does immediately open Run, so that part of the functionality is working for me. |

I'm currently using Classic Shell 4.2.4 on Windows 7, with the Windows 7 style enabled. On the right side of the menu, the items that I have available include "Computer" and "Control Panel". When I press the alt key, the first letter of "Control Panel" is underlined, wh... |

I wouldn't expect Classic Shell to include web results in its searches any time soon. It feels too outside the goals of the project, especially when Windows 10 has its own search bar. If you have Firefox, it can route Windows-created searches through your default search provider. There's also a less... |

I'm trying to do something similar with my Control Panel folder, which is slightly overflowing the boundaries of my screen. It looks like I can switch the normal command to multi-column, but when I do that, I end up with the first column exactly filling the screen and the second column only having a... |

You should be able to just grab patches directly from Microsoft and manually install them rather than going through Windows Update. I had to do that myself for one of the patches that wasn't properly downloading. In theory, this means that it should be possible to cripple Windows Update and then ins... |

The clickable letters were one of the primary reasons that I gave up on the Windows 10 start menu and switched back to Classic Shell. I'm hoping that at some point Windows 10 lets you not have them. Right click uninstallation was kind of nice, although the fact that I found it so useful says somethi... |

There are settings that control what left click, shift left click, right click, and shift right click do. Maybe your setting for what a right click does got changed somehow? It's worth checking, at least. |

Reasonable question in general, though. The Classic Start Menu can be easily temporarily disabled, but I can't figure out a way to remove the other two parts without completely uninstalling the whole set. Heck, I can't even figure out if there is a process to kill, is everything in Classic Explorer ... |

It looks like you have the taskbar set to use small icons and have labels being always displayed, but the label text isn't appearing for some reason, resulting in a blank space. The missing icons can also all be manually toggled off in settings, so not having them isn't horribly broken. My one conce... |

Yeah, I asked partially because the classic start menu already seems to have a decent grasp on what apps are and how to handle them. I wouldn't really expect integrated desktop program uninstallation any time soon, if ever. |

I'm currently running Classic Shell 4.2.3 on Windows 10. Everything worked fine up until a few hours ago, when the taskbar's icons changed on their own for no apparent reason. Oddly enough, it wasn't directly to Windows defaults, I lost the icons for Firefox and Steam and had the icon for Edge reapp... |

You can also reconfigure the default behavior so that left clicking opens the Windows start menu instead of the Classic Shell one. It's under the Controls Tab. That will let you run the start menu normally while still leaving any other tweaks on, in case you decided to override the taskbar color or ... |

Does Windows 10 (and maybe 8) have the necessary hooks to pull off an uninstall option when right-clicking, or is that restricted to the normal interface like live tiles are? It'd be nice to have if it's possible, it's much easier than digging through one of the settings menus. I'm currently still m... |
