Actually, Startisback doesn't necessarily depend on UXpatch (I think). You have to add the Msstyles file separately. Still, I would like the option for classic shell to support theme settings on the fly. Startisback is a good solution, but it doesn't have the kind of granular customization of classi...

well it is possible to add. Both Start10 and Startisback both have this feature, it just needs to be implemented. There is a free hack out there on deviantart if you want to see it yourself http://www.deviantart.com/art/Custom-Taskbar-for-Windows-10-Alpha-v1-1-0-571575905 EDIT: Actually the devianta...

What kind of organization do you work for that requires you to remove that menu? I don't understand who would restrict such a thing. And I thought my school was bad.

Yeah, Classic shell should have an open skinning api for much more customization in the start menu. This opens up the possibility not only for Vista skins, but community-made Gnome, KDE, and even Unity skins, all in Windows. Expand that to the taskbar and flyout options on the right and we could hav...

+1 for this feature. I didn't even think about it until I saw it just now. That looks pretty useful, although now that I think of it, Win+L also does that, but it's good for people who want to get to it through start.

Although with all the themes and tweaks for Windows 8.1, maybe that would be a good place to stay. The only thing missing from Windows 8.1 is the ability to disable the flyout, otherwise, it's a solid OS with years of community support. Sure metro apps are useless, but I don't have to use them.

Maybe, but I did install the drivers from the dell page and still had issues. All I know is that dealing with Bluetooth drivers on Windows 7 was a pain in the butt and it was resolved in at least 8.1 . I also had reduced battery life, so that was another good reason that made me switch. Maybe it was...

I would, but bluetooth support sucks on windows 7. I actually tried it, but made an annoying buzzing sound when playing audio on my LG tone+ headphones. That reason alone is what pushed me off Windows 7. Bluetooth headphones are just too useful.

This would be a convenient addition for people who his the Windows key to bring up start. It would definitely need to be optional, but convenient nonetheless.

I'm actually very surprised that no one has found a way to fix it yet at this point with all the tools that make Windows 8 look like windows 7. This seems like it would be one of the first things to be done.

When you want to change WiFi networks on Windows 8 or 10, I could not find a way to make the WiFi list show up like Windows 7. Winaero tweaker only goes back to Windows 8, so is there a way to do this?

I don't actually see that button in that tab. All I see is "insert new item" but not what you mentioned. That does seem like a cool feature though.

Windows 10 actually made a few changes I like, but we still got that hindrance of customization that Microsoft always brings that make programs like this necessary. A few improvements in Windows 10 include: 1. Pinned Apps are now on the right side instead of the left. This would be cool to have on C...

I like Classic Shell's taskbar color tweaking, but I use the new start menu most of the time (it's more convenient to click tiles IMO because they are bigger and on the right side instead of the left) but the new start menu gets paged out, so sometimes it takes a while for it to load if I haven't us...

I decided to switch to Windows 7 (downgrade rights FTW 8-)) and I still use classic shell due to the huge customization. I noticed though in my resource monitor there is a process under system writing to the disk (I like to know precisely why my HDD blinks if it starts blinking) and it shows that it...

It would be nice to have the option to increase taskbar icon size like in Windows 7 and 8. Apparently it is possible since http://startisback.com/ has it. I don't know if they are using a dirty hack though, but we'll see.

This is Windows 10, and as said in my edit, compatibility mode does not fix it, it was the renderer in the specific game (Red Alert) that fixed it (changed it to opengl) but not all old games will have that kind of patch to give the ability to fix it. For now, I disabled the custom start button to f...

On C&C red alert (using installer from http://cncnet.org/red-alert) there is a minor glitch that the start orb sticks in fullscreen. It's minor because it is fixed with compatibility mode for Windows 7, however it would be a major glitch otherwise, since it is so big at that resolution. Edit: No...

I think I'll just wait until BigMuscle finishes his tool. It seems like it'll be a lot more polished. I just thought there was a way to use native Windows 10 glass (like used on start menu and taskbar if enabled under Classic Shell) on windows titlebars.

I tried it and it looked horrible. Firefox was all screwed up and file explorer had no effect. Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it.

So what about Aero glass for titlebars? It seems you have a stable solution for the taskbar, is there anything preventing you from doing native glass with titlebars? TrueTransparency...? Have you tested it with Windows 10? I don't have a VM to use it on. This is my only computer so anything that co...

It would be cool if you could pin apps and expand the start menu horizontally. This would be good for those who use the keyboard to select apps.

I would recommend trying out task view though, it's a very useful feature and IMO it's pretty cool as well. I do like that there is the choice to use third party apps to restore old functionality though.

Since on Windows 10, you seem to have figured out how to use the native aero implementation, I think it would be useful for Classic Shell to to have a built-in aero implementation for themes. I have also noticed that themes made for previous versions of Windows seem to have terrible animation glitch...

I have been using the windows 8.1 start screen and I just tried out classic shell, and what I've noticed is lack of space for pinning and terrible organization that is inherent to Windows 7. I have however seen great menus on Linux distros (Looking at Gnome Classic) that have things organized in cat...
