You can use any color scheme you prefer, the colors are stored in registry. If you want everything Win2000-like, you can do it.

Of course, we always in support of inclusion of this functionality in Classic Shell, rather than using other methods, though this is unlikely. |

As Splitwirez said, one can easily use Classic theme with DWM acceleration under Windows 8 and newer. It is not possible as of now under Windows 7.

An easier way is to rename these two files in System32 folder:
Windows.Shell.Search.UriHandler.dll Windows.UI.Search.dll
This completely removes the Charmsbar and does not take any memory. |

Well, a workaround: I have changed
%SystemDrive%\Classic\shutdown.vbs
to
%SystemDrive%\Classic\shutdown.vbs -a
(a meaningless parameter which is not processed by the script), and the empty element disappeared. |

These settings should produce the empty item on your system (it links to the shutdown uutility that exists on any Windows system). |

I am using fxxkmetro with Windows 8.1. One issue with it is that when metro is killed, Explorer gets too long to terminate when shutting down or rebooting or logging off.
I now fixed this problem by creating these scripts and modifying accordingly the Classic Shell menu items. |

Well, finally I managed to edit the skin to what I wanted using PixelFormer editor (and MSPaint) but it was VERY complicated and should be repeated for each theme.

Well, Vista's Explorer does not run in Vista mode under Win8.1. Maybe it is because it also needs the MUI file replaced! |
