Currently you can double-click an expanding menu item to open it in an explorer window (very handy for getting to a folder quickly). To do this with the keyboard you have to press the menu key followed by O, which is slower. Since you can press enter to expand the item normally, shift+enter would se... |

Unfortunately a lot of people submitting start buttons to the forum don't seem to have realised this so you have to edit any button you want to use (well any button with empty spaces). My preferred solution would be to make it so clicking in the actual screen corner (i.e. drag the mouse as far into ... |

When you hover over an item in the recent items menu you get a hint message in the format: [blockquote]"Location: [FILENAME] ([PATH])" [/blockquote]If I'm hovering over an item it's usually because I'm trying to remember what/where it is, and the filename is already clearly visible, so it'... |

When I want to change start menu settings I right-click on the start button to bring up the settings/help/exit menu. However most custom start buttons contain transparent areas and right clicking on them is like clicking 'through' the button: It brings up the Win+X menu as if you had right clicked o... |

Some problems I've noticed while using 2-column mode with user picture turned off, on Win 8.1: When the start menu reaches the top of the screen (lots of pinned or recent items): [blockquote]-The main menu scroll buttons (for pinned items/recent items) double in height after applying changes in the ... |

For anyone still on Windows 8 who wants rid of the Charms, I found this brilliant little gem here: https://www.eightforums.com/drivers-hardware/29036-disabling-charm-bar-appearing-touch-screen-swipe-2.html "Yes, charms is protected, but one can hide it each time it is activated. So in Win 8.1 the native on/off switch for Bluetooth is in the PC settings metro screen, making it a pain to access, but you can get there in one click by adding this to your start menu, either as a shortcut or menu item. First extract the two scripts from the .zip to a suitable path. Then create a ... |

Fantastic piece of work, not only better than the new Windows start menus but better than the old ones. The more I use it the faster it gets as I can customise it to show exactly what I want it to. It's even got me navigating the menu with just the keyboard which I never would have thought of even b... |
