Best of luck for the future, and thank you for creating one of the key bits of software I use to make modern Windows usable. |

I'm running classic shell on Parallels on a Mac, and have set VM to retina mode. The rest of Windows runs fine, but Classic Shell start menu is not scaling: https://i.imgur.com/5cWNXPS.png I've played with the checkboxes in the File Explorer Properties panel, but no luck. I agree that loading in the optimum icons for each display is the best option. Performance is secondary to me - an i7 should be able to draw a few extra icons! And then they should be cached. As it happens though, I've found Windows 10's handling of different density DPI displays to be so appalling ... |

Hi Ivo, Thanks for the reply. Currently, that is what I've done; to find a setting that kinda works for both. I get the large and small icons thing (having made a bunch for my Windows 10 theme if you remember) I guess I just don't understand enough about Windows development, or its DPI scaling issue... |

I have to say, in this case I would prefer consistency over performance.
If there was a way this could be offered in a future update, I would be all for it |

So having looked at this some more, I'm still getting discrepancies.
Setting icon sizes to suit one monitor won't suit the other.
Either the icons are too small on the high-DPI monitor, or freakishly large on the normal-DPI monitor.
Is there no way to solve this? |

Hmm... seems like the tooltip is a Windows thing, as it happens even outside of CS.
It's so frustrating! MS really have seemed to have dropped the ball with high DPI displays |

Hi Gaurav,
That's helped, certainly, thanks.
As you say, the icons on the second display aren't respecting the scale of the monitor, but seem to be taking their lead from the global setting. Can this be fixed?
Also, the tooltip text is also much bigger; screenshot attached. |

This looks like Windows 10 attempting to match your wallpaper.
I have that option turned off (Settings > Personalisation > Colors) and I have the darkest grey chosen instead, which is then reflected in the Start Menu. |

It would be great to be able to optionally "Show hidden folders/files" in an item's "Edit Menu Item" dialog.
As a developer, it would be really useful to be able to traverse all the dot folders in my %USERPROFILE% folder right from the Start Menu.

That would truly be one size for all. Actually, weirdly not! The less pixels you have to play with, the more "iconic" your images have to be. Take the "pictures" folder for example. At small image sizes you need to be really careful with your pixel-pushing. Of course if it was l... |

Juniper, yep - it is! Though in practice, only the smaller icon sizes require the hard work to make sure they don't look woolly. 3. Don't use PNG, you need to use bitmaps. The SKIN text refers to the numeric ID of the bitmap resource. Got this working now, thanks. 2. You can edit the skin while it is in use. Then just press the Win key to see it. If the timestamp is changed, the menu will reload it. Ah, that's helpful information.
