. . . Windows 8/8.1/10 all have hybrid shutdown on by default. Classic Shell simply follows the default Windows setting. I don't think it's on by default in Win 10, because: a.) when I shutdown with the Windows "Power" button / re-booted / the Registry setting worked b.) when I un-checked ... |

I'm using Classic Shell 4.3.1 . . . I have found that in order for this setting in the Registry to work, which will make NumLock "on": HKEY_USERS \ .DEFAULT \ Control Panel \ Keyboard \ InitialKeyboardIndicators Default: 2147483648 Change it to: 2147483650 It's necessary to [un-check] &quo... |

From reading around, and generalizing from seemingly related posts . . . It looks like this only affects users who try to reclaim disk space after the update, by either running Disk Cleanup w/System Files (including Windows Update), or by running DISM /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup . ... |

I found out from http://www.eightforums.com: "Correct, if SFC is not reporting any unrepairable system files, then you don't need to run DISM to repair the component store." So, now I'm thinking: Could this error message be due to me: 1.) working from a clone of the original OS install, an... |

Check out these two articles below . . . It looks like DISM supports SFC . . . and, I have no errors noticed, after running SFC. I'm thinking that as long as SFC shows as 100%, I really don't need to even ever run DISM. . . . and, maybe I don't need to care that DISM always has this sentence . . . A... |

I have Win 8.1, and will pass on Win 10
I just updated CS to: ClassicShellSetup_4_2_4.exe
It looks like CS is now being done for Win 10
Does that mean I no longer need to update CS?
Or, should I just keep updating it, as updates become available? |

I was able to hide "Programs / Search" before. I wonder what happened since then.
The way I have the folders now is a good compromise. |

Ok, sounds good, thanks. Is there a page that discusses these little details, and what you can do? Thanks Guarav Seeing the Maintenance folder empty in Win 8.1, and knowing how if I delete something because I don't want it, could break it (like Programs / Search, and the Apps), has made me think that CS was a little buggy - but still definitely usable. I keep notes in text files, of all the setti... |

I just ran:
C:\>dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
and
C:\>sfc /scannow
I did a Restart . . . and Search remains Hidden . . . so, I see that they do not restore the "Hidden" Attribute . . . Yay! |

I have the Search box. It has a tab for settings. |
