I've been using my laptop for the last few hours and everything seems alright, so it looks like there was corruption which Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth fixed.

I have run sfc /scannow and it said there were no errors.

So I've run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth anyway.

At the end it said that it had fixed curruption, so I don't know if there was a problem or not.

I've restarted and will have to see if it has corrected the problem.

It just crashed again.
Could there be a problem with System32/devrtl.dll
Is there any way to check and fix it if there is a problem with it?

Thanks for your help.

I had recently installed IObit uninstaller.
I have uninstalled it and everything seems alright so far.
I had the latest version of IObit Uninstaller, how could it cause explorer.exe to crash?
Could Iobit Uninstaller have caused a problem with System32/devrtl.dll?

My laptop starts and all the icons are showing in the taskbar, all the icons then disappear and reload one after another again.

The taskbar stays solid while all this is going on, so explorer.exe is not crashing.

Just wondering if this is how Classic Shell operates?

When starting my laptop the icons of programs I have will load in the taskbar.
They will all load, then all disappear, then reload again.

Is this normal or is there something I can tick/untick so they load just the once?

Thanks

No I haven't solved it - it's still happening.

I will upload the crash dump as soon as possible.

I think I have solved the issue.

It was due to Window update 3033889.

There was a fix with Window update 3048778.

I will see how I get on tomorrow and let you know.

I've downloaded ProcDump and it is running. The problem is, is that I get the freeze when starting my laptop. Once everything has loaded it will freeze. How do I use ProcDump before the laptop has started fully? What does: 'Press Ctrl-C to end monitoring without terminating the process.' mean? Does ...

I don't know if this has anything to do with Classic Shell, but the taskbar has started freezing. It freezes for about a minute and then restarts itself, but some of the program icons such as 'Ditto' and 'Winpatrol' don't appear, so I have to restart my laptop. Unless there is a way of restarting th...

I have recently updated to 8.1 update 1, but before updating I also updated Classic Shell to 4.1

Even though I have 'volume' set at: 'show icon and notifications' it is still not showing in the taskbar.

I have not had a problem before updating - Any idea why it is not showing?

Thanks

Hi

I am running a Windows 8 64bit laptop (will be updating to 8.1 update 1 very soon)

I don't know if this is possible through Classic Shell, but when there are updates for Windows updates, is it possible to have a notification pop up (like it did with Windows Vista) on the taskbar?

Thanks

Hi I am thinking of updating to 8.1 and have not done so because I read about some people having problems. I am still running Classic Shell 3.6.6: Should I update Classic Shell first, before I update to 8.1, or update it after I have 8.1 installed? I am a bit nervous about both updates because my la...

When I first installed 'Classic shell' and was adjusting settings 'settings for start menu' would be at the top of my start menu: 'Recent document', but it does not appear there no more. I also don't see 'Classic shell' when I hover over 'programs' which is just above the 'search box' which I used t...
