Like other utilities, the shutdown does not activate the hybrid shutdown function unnder windows 8, if you use the shutdown in the charms
the computer boots twice as fast (and closes faster)then the shutdown in classic shell (or other shutdown utilities) maybe including the right shutdown command to enable hybrid shutdown ?

Make sure the "Enable hybrid shutdown" setting in the Main Menu tab is checked. If so, the start menu will attempt to do a hybrid shutdown using the EWX_HYBRID_SHUTDOWN setting: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 68(v=vs.85).aspx
