I enabled the option to display metro apps as a menu but I can't find them anywhere.

I have pinned the Calculator there but I can't find it anywhere to launch it now

What style of the Start Menu are you using? You can find the Style from the "Start Menu Style" tab. What Windows OS are you running?

There should be an "Apps" item in the right column of the Start Menu if you've enabled the option to display apps as a menu from the Customize Start Menu tab. It should list all your apps. Also any apps you pin will appear directly in the main menu outside of any folder.

You Apps item looks disabled. Go to the "Customize Start Menu" tab and enable the "Metro Apps" near the bottom.

Is your menu too tall and taking the full height of the screen due to DPI or font size set too high? In that case items in the right column in Windows 7 style near the bottom (just above the Shutdown button) might get hidden.
