I have noticed on one or two machines on which I have installed Classic Shell, that it has a problem allowing access to C:\Program Data where the installation files are supposed to be placed. This does not happen on all machines only the odd one or three that refuses to allow access. It only happens in Windows 10 Anniversary update (version 1607) and the earlier version remains unnaffected. Has nayone any idea why this occurs?

Classic Shell should definitely not affect any access to C:\ProgramData, you can be sure of that. Files are installed to C:\Program Files and some data is stored at %localappdata%\ClassicShell.

Can you try this and let me know if it resolves your issue?: http://winaero.com/blog/fix-classic-she ... ry-update/

So when we see that reference to the C:\ProgramData during our install, how do we get past it to install classic shell? You told us that classic shell should not be affecting that directory, but many of us have gotten that error by installing the install program we downloaded from the classic shell home page. Just telling us that we shouldn't see that error when we obviously do, does not help us. Have you been hacked?

Update: I downloaded the utility and that worked. Thanks... :-)
