Hi Guys,

Just did a clean install of Windows 10 1607 (AU) and installed Classic Shell 4.3.0, along with the config files for Classic Start Menu and Classic Explorer from my previous Windows 10 1511 setup.

Everything seems to be working fine, with one exception - the "Search' icon is missing from the main Programs menu (see screen-shots).

I'm scratching my head a bit and am unsure as to which option is CS configured the search option.

Any help of comments appreciated.

Cheers,

Mike.

The start menu simply shows the contents of the Programs folder. For some reason after the update the Search shortcut has disappeared.

In Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft removed the old useful Search shortcut that let you search network files: http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-search-n ... indows-10/ Even the Win+X menu which used to open this Search, now opens Cortana which cannot search network files added to Libraries. This feature is lost from Windows.

Thanks for the prompt response guys...

Looks like Microsoft are up to their old tricks!

I've killed Cortana via Group Policy.

<edit>

Simple solution - just add the "Search Box" via the "Customize Start Menu" tab in Classic Start Menu settings :-)

Works good as gold, and probably a more logical place for the search functionality!

Cheers,

Mike.

Yes but unfortunately, network search is not supported in Classic Shell's Start Menu yet. "Everything Search" from Voidtools now supports proper indexed search including indexed network shares.
