Win 8/64-bit. A nice man on a YouTube video shows how to install Classic Explorer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msnSAE4DhCo About 3:50 into it, with Computer as the location, he says to go to a menu labeled "Organize - System Properties - Uninstall or Change Program - Map Network Drive - Open Control Panel." He clicks Organize, then pull down to Layout, then Menu. I don't see anything like this. Not that menu bar, nothing. And then View - Toolbars - Classic Explorer Bar. I don't see that either (although it relies on the first Layout - Menu operation). Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I see only a menu with Properties - Open - Rename (grayed out) - Access Media - Map Network Drive - Add a network location. What am I doing wrong? TIA.

Maybe the menu bar is not enabled on your computer? You have to press Alt to see it unless you enable it permanently from Folder Options or Organize button. Of course, the Ribbon replaces the menu bar on Windows 8 for most folders except certain folders like Control Panel, or Network Connections. To enable Classic Explorer bar, right click the menu bar in Control Panel or enable it from the Ribbon.

Also, for the toolbar to work, you *may* have to enable it from Internet Options. See here: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#explorer_toolbar

I installed classic shell for the reason that I got fed up of the folders jumping all over the place with explorer in windows 7. However, I now have a different problem. When I go to save a document (word) I click on the folder I want, then click on the subfolder and save. But between clicking on the folder and subfolder the list scrolls (usually up) and when I click save as, I find that the worng folder has been highlighted and the file is saved in a totally wrong folder!
So the folders have stopped jumping in exporer, but now jump about when I "save as"
Is this a bug previoulsy reported
And I've just installed the latest version of classic shell.

Thanks

The folder jumping bug in one that affects both Explorer and all open/save dialog boxes. Unfortunately, it is safe for Classic Shell to fix it for Explorer, it can't fix it reliably for open/save boxes for all applications. Here is why: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#explorer_saveas
