Apologies for the double-post, but shouldn't these Taskbar skins have their own threads?

Now that the forum has been created sure; Though I would 'suggest' that simple color variants should remain in the same thread as the original. just to help organize things

Can you plz make a version of this that uses the color code 151515? (I'm going off of the color code it shows when you set the taskbar color in the classic shell taskbar settings) Also, my screen res is 1366x768 (not sure if that matters)

---EDIT---

Nevermind, I managed to get it done, lol.

Other.
It's kind of fun going back in past with wild colors of history taskbars.
This was from screenshot of Metroid Prime at

http://www.smasher9a.com/nintendo.php

The taskbar options do have limitations, as it's static.
Still mighty fine if one is willing to alter the taskbar image to match their own system.
In my case I'm on Win 10. I altered the black area to fit my setup.

I put in no border line transition between taskbar and tray image.
That way, you can use Gaurav's method, by reducing the right horizontal border 170 pixels and lower.
With each lower number, the tray transition will move to the left.

Version for 1366x768 screen res plz? [specifically one that fits with battery, network, volume, and action center icons visible]

---EDIT---

Nevermind, I managed to get it done.

I think the only way to get exact Win7 look is to take a screen shot, and edit out the icons and text. That would only work just for one color.
The taskbar does not function same way as a menu skin.
Because there is no additional user glass color mask, looks like Ivo made it to have png alpha at 0/255.
This will grab the Win 10 glass color.

Here is a simple W7 taskbar for W10. Set the Vertical stretching on Border sizes:2,0

Maybe since Splitwirez knows more about all that MS styles stuff, he could make a long win7 look taskbar,
that incorporates the slanted moon beams, well, whatever they are called, onto it.
Should be relatively easy to blend it together. Over to you splitz. :)

You have to believe me, the image is down below, just mostly invisible. Right click on it to download, copy, or save.

I know you know, but I don't know what they call it.
Diagonal shine bars or something.
You could make a Win7 taskbar with it.
Original quality images are in the resources Win7 folder.

Ah, that's what it's called. Thanks Splitwirez.

I had started searching on Google and came back with:
diagonal gradient
shiny stripe effect
aero Stripes
gloss stripes

I saw on Windows 7 forumn,
that people found too horrible to look at, and with adjustments in registry,
to control"ColorizationGlassReflectionIntensity"
Did not see it in Win 10 dwm registry, so guess only way is put into taskbar image.
The win 7 taskbar looks to have at least three things going on.
Different blur size, glass reflections, and like in your skinny images-full lengthwise gradient,
that makes ends different intensities from middle.

I did make an image with the reflections stream image, not the other one.
Switching between horizontal tile, and stretch does make a big difference.
I won't upload it. Not sure if I like the reflections.
Have it at 50% blend. Probably going to change it again for more subtle look. :)

Did you find a more accurate way of doing it?

It ca be done with AeroGlassGUI, but you need the AeroGlass mod for that [both can be gained from glass8.eu] Just gotta be sure to get the version that is right for your O.S. The one for 8.1+ works on 8.1 - 10 v1511. There is a dwm window that pops up on startup claiming it couldn't hook your version of DWM but that can be ignored since it still works. The watermark can be removed by donating about 5 dollars USD. However I never really minded the watermakr since it's not very intrusive.

I just tried out new beta version Classic shell.
It can have taskbar changed to whatever image one has around.
I used a small menu bitmap.
Got it working in less than 2 minutes.
People should be able to make their own fast too.

Thank you Ivo, and gang.

can you plz post that exact taskbar image? it's really nice. :D

I thought we were assuming that wasn't an option, but okay.

I was using Big Muscle trial one in Windows 8. I never tried it on Win 10.
It was pretty good, with lots of adjustments, for fine tuning.
I'm trying to steer clear of any system modifications on Win 10.
It's a pain every time there is a new 10 update. I have to reset all my preferences again and again.

That is just the main menu Tropic Night bitmap 25 in the XP Classic Retro 7 skin:

http://www.classicshell.net/forum/downl ... hp?id=3463

It would need to have the borders cropped.
If I remember correctly from way back, I had heavily modified a button I made, from button making instructions on internet.
It started out as a button, changed to a top bar on menu, which then turned into that taskbar picture. :)

I don't see your "going to make skins in the future" sentence anymore in your posts. Making skins can end up lots of work.
Making taskbars, on the other hand is easier than making start buttons.
In fact, It's easier to make a taskbar, than trying to figure out how to use the quote system on this forum.

Since internet buttons look very similar to taskbars, it is very easy to use a button maker program.
There are free ones out there.
Here is example of one that is not free, but the trial can do many things.

http://www.mtopsoft.com/web-button-maker/index.htm

It just requires the trial text on button removed in a foto program.
Due to the Vista 01 button has a horizontal/vertical gradient, I put lots of blank space text dashes, and font as 16 size to make about 40p height and close to 1900 p wide.
That will make it look smoooother.

Other than editing out the trial text, and saving as png, nothing else was done.

To make that second example image for using glass color/ blur, I put color to 0. Copied that no color image and using Pixel former,
pasted same grey image into the alpha channel, saved as 32 bit (8R,8G,8B,8A) image. That will make it dynamic looking.

ya i removed my sig for now, lol. I still want to do so in the future but I'm not sure how long that will take, lol. So for now I removed my sig, lol. And I gotta admit, thats definitely some useful info for making new images. ofc, I still use either paint[dot]net or GIMP, lol. GIMP is fairly easy but paint[dot]net is a bit more advanced imo so I'm still figuring that one out, lol.

I understand what it is like.
If it's the first time to use the settings, this might help:
After you have copied or downloaded the image to your computer,
right click on the start button to get a small menu, pick settings.

Select taskbar tab. Select "Customize taskbar"
halfway down the list select "Taskbar texture"
Click on the three dashes.
Go to where ever you have the downloaded taskbar image and open it in that window.
That should load it. Just need to set it up.
If you are using taskbar on bottom select "Horizontal stretching" to "Stretch"
"Vertical stretching" to "Borders" with border sizes 2,0
That makes the two top pixels not stretch, and the bottom pixel stretch.
If it does not look correct after that, then wrong image was used for bottom.

Each image that people have uploaded requires some adjusting to get it looking correct. :)
Some work right away using default settings.
Hope this helps.

Looks good Splitwirez

Trying to match W7 on W10.
Using Win7like skin set on low with 25 opacity menu, 40 opacity for taskbar.
Using Splitwirez Win7 taskbar with a slight mod on top two pixels lines.

Downloaded Big Muscle setup-w8.1-1.4.5
and installed the free "Aero Glass Configurator" (from 2 years ago, I think, MrGRiMs).
I can get the glow, and glass reflection diagonal bars on open Windows title bars.
Even setting blur deviation to 10 works great on taskbar and Window bars, and menu.

Just can't figure out how to get those glass reflection diagonal bars on taskbar.
Even extracted the png reflection image from DWMGlass.dll and told it to use it as custom theme reflection.
Nope, still no taskbar reflection.

Any ideas?

Update Aug.

I never figured out how to put the reflection on taskbar, to look like Win7, when using Big Muscle.
Gave up.
The only way I could do it was imprint the reflection on the taskbar. But which part? It is 596 pixels high! I used 40 pixels around middle.
Only made it to work with large icons and taskbar opacity at 40. Won't look right at higher opacity(too bright).
Other sizes and horizontal tile will change the reflection angle too much.

Just like Crawfish was saying in the ChitChat section,
his one does not look very well with bright backgrounds. Same with this one.
I copied, and pasted back on itself to make the alpha channel stronger. It's a little better than before. :)

I'm still using Win7like skin at low setting with opacity at 25 to match taskbar.
Come to think of it, original Win7 menu has a reflection too.
I'm sure it can be done better than taskbar reflection,
because reflection image would work better when using it as a custom image (new feature).
Something to try in future? Hmm..

Ah the borders/highlight around the button is part of the taskbar texture. Then it's not what I wanted. :) But thanks anyway. I wanted to restore the button frame/border/outline.

I use transparent taskbar (opacity: 0) and I just love that I have totally transparent taskbar :) It looks great, but I have one question/request:

Can you make Show Desktop button in tray invisible as well? I hate that button and it would be great if I can not-see it ;)

PS. Latest CS, Win7 Home Premium 64-bit.

You can use the program "7+ Taskbar Tweaker" to remove the desktop button.

Windows 7 diagonal shine glass bar, Windows Vista glass bar, Longhorn glass bar, Windows XP plastic bar, Windows 98 flat bar, Linux Mint-X, Linux Mint and some other metal and glass. Any color can be set on all taskbars. Set color in classic shell settings ->taskbar ->taskbar color
I have modified many files provided in above comments for transparency to show the color through. Without the excellent taskbars already made above I would not have made these taskbars. Thank You everyone.

I have included Win 7 skin for start menu which is more like original Win 7 menu.
And also added Vista, Win 7, XP start buttons.

I love Classic Shell. This is very good software that transforms ugly Windows 10 to a beautiful desktop. Now if only functionality of "Old New File Explorer" could be added in Classic Shell and somehow we could modify Title bars of windows this will be perfect. Even now Classic Shell is amazing.

How to Make Transparent texture from taskbar image
----------------------------------------------
Delete one pixel hard border on top by cropping if needed. Take 1 pixel width only. For patterned taskbars like Windows 7 take whole width of 1920 pixel.
Make new layer above backgound
Make one more layer above this one. Copy backgroud layer (by select all (Ctrl+A), copy(Ctrl+C)) and paste(Ctrl+V) on this layer.
Background Layer visisbility -off
Image -Adjustments -Auto contrast
Image -Adjustments -Desaturate
make top most layer with color Opacity -30%
Export as png

If I ever make it into a proper Visual Style, the Windows 10 version will likely be powered by Customatic... .-.

sweet! Also on that topic. If you're interested, http://www.VirtualCustoms.net has some pretty good Visual Styles as well. It's a really good theming website. I'm actually a VC Elite on there. Either way, give it a check sometime, you might find something interesting there.

---EDIT---

I just got an idea.. Since it's basically the title bar style I wanted out of this.. Why not create an AeroGlass theme atlas file with that once AeroGlass is officially released for RS1? Won't need any modding system files or shiz with that method :D

...no...that defeats the purpose...Customatic provides its own Aeroglass implementation, and it doesn't modify any system files...that's the whole point...

ooohhh ok. Cool. Is Customatic free (or possibly going to be free)? Because I can't afford to buy it if not...

Idk, but the backers seem to be advising that a free version of some sort would be economically advantageous...

I know this is probably reviving an older thread, but does anybody here know how to get rid of that annoying overlay that blocks and conflicts with some taskbars?

On Windows 7 and 8.1, you'll need a custom Visual Style
On Windows 10, you'll need StartIsBack++ and a custom Visual Style (Windows 10 Taskbar doesn't natively use Visual Styles .-. )

Oh come on! I already did those! :(
Well, kinda.

Mine has the little side bar color thing. I actually might modify mine to look more similar to what I was going for.

Upload when it gets finished.
Curious to see how it looks. :)

For myself, I'm liking larger taskbars with more pixels.
That way, will look smoother on larger screens.
Example: XP Embedded large plain taskbar.
Vertical stretching 2,1

XP has that extra recessed bit at the top of taskbar,
which can't be reproduced. Always a compromise picking the top pixel line.

I'll go check out your blog.

That top pixel line is kind of annoying for me! :x
I tried to remove those in the pack.

Also, tryin' to make a longhorn pack as well for classic shell.
