hi

may i know how much ram does classic start need and consume ?

i have installed on several machine with different results

i have monitored the cpu consume and it's very light

What are you measuring? The main part of Classic Shell runs inside the Explorer process.

It uses as much as it needs to. It stores information about the contents of the start menu, so the more items you have in the start menu, the more memory it will use.

It's a question which only your computer can answer. :) Start Task Manager and measure the memory consumption of the Explorer.exe process after using the Start Menu for a while.

yes i agree , but there is an average ram consume ?
watching several machines
i have noticed that at the first installation explorer.exe is around 50mb
on the second install or third around even 150mb on several desktop and laptop

explorer.exe itself varies quite widely particularly depending on available ram (itl casche stuff that it wouldnt otherwise cache on a machine with extra ram)
There is an average sure.. but to get that average, one would have to test on a hundred machines, before and after installation.. I would guess it takes up 20mb or less... and have ran it on machines with under 1gb of ram without a noticable impact (not that the machines were all that fast to begin with
