Hi there,
thanks first of all for the fantastic program Classic Shell!:D

I do use it under W8 and came accross the above mentioned request.
If I try to install e.g. a bluetooth device, Iregulary use the StartMenue, klick to "Device and Printers" and I am there. Unfortunately this method fails, while Classic Menue links just to Printers.

In a German W8 this is "Alle Systemsteuerungselemente\Drucker" instead of "Systemsteuerung\Alle Systemsteuerungselemente\Geräte und Drucker" (ControlPannel\All Elements\Devices and Printers??)

Could you be so kind to Change the link in one of the next Versions?

Thanks in advance
Niels

You can change the link yourself.
1. Right click the Start button, open Settings.
2. Enable All Settings radio button at the bottom.
3. Go to Customize Start menu tab.
4. Double click PrintersItem in the left column.
5. Erase the "Command" field: printers
6. In the "Link" field, enter: shell:::{A8A91A66-3A7D-4424-8D24-04E180695C7A}
7. Check the "Don't Expand" checkbox at the bottom.
8. Click OK twice.

Now Devices and Printers will open instead of the classic Printers folder.

Thanks, superb response time and a very good tip!!

Unfortunately I can not access the "Link" field (it is Grey) ;) . Could you get me a hint, what to do to access it?

Enable accessability is checked at the "General Behavior" Tab.

Thanks in advance
Niels

That is because step 5 says: Erase the "Command" field: printers. After that the Link field will become available. :)

Hi there,

I followed the instructions above, unfortunately classic menu still opens only the Printers section.

Can you be so kind to help me again?

To open Devices and Printers, specify shell:::{A8A91A66-3A7D-4424-8D24-04E180695C7A} in the Link field and nothing in the Command field.

To open the classic Printers folder, specify shell:PrintersFolder in the Link field and nothing in the Command field.

Are you saying that with shell:::{A8A91A66-3A7D-4424-8D24-04E180695C7A} mentioned in the Link field on your German Windows 10, it is opening the old Printers folder? In that case, that is a Windows bug. Press Win+R keys together to open the Run dialog and copy-paste shell:::{A8A91A66-3A7D-4424-8D24-04E180695C7A} into the Run dialog. See which folder exactly opens.
