I've just upgraded from Zone alarm 10 which caused no problems to zone alarm 11, which stops the classic start menu working. From browsing, it appears this problem has ocurred before with various versions of zone alarm. Has anyone got a proper solution? I've managed a workaround: In Zone Alarm's control panel, go to Tools>Preferences and uncheck the box under the Startup heading, which on my PC is intriguingly labelled "Load ZoneAlarm Free Firewall a", at which point the text is cut off... Anyway, uncheck this box, then put a shortcut to ZoneAlarm in the Programs/Startup folder. I think this allows Classic Shell to do its dll injection before Zone alarm can boot up. I'm now investigating better firewalls!
