I've been using Classic Shell and Folder Options X on Windows 7 to reduce icon spacing in both the navigation and file panes as mentioned in http://www.classicshell.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1049.

Recently, I've been encountering 'website restore errors' with IE9. In trying to fix them, I reset the IE9 settings at 'Internet Options' -> 'Advanced' -> 'Restore advanced settings' and 'Reset'. This didn't fix the errors. So, I upgraded to IE11. With IE11, the errors are gone, but now Folder Options X does not work. For example, I have 'Column headers in all views' checked, but headers are not shown in all views. Also, the icon spacing is no longer reduced in the file pane.

I do not know whether resetting the IE9 settings or IE11 caused the issue. Does anyone know how to get Folder Options X to work again?

You can try reinstalling that software "Folder Options X". Possibly it got deactivated by IE11.
Also you can use the Classic Explorer setting to show the column headers.

Yes, I was able to get Classic Explorer to show the column headers.

I tried uninstalling IE11 and uninstalling/reinstalling Folder Options X, but nothing worked. I'm just using Folder Options X to reduce the icon spacing in the file pane. Is there another way to accomplish this without Folder Options X?

Double-check in the IE "Manage addons" settings if it has been disabled. Other than that, I don't know how to achieve what you are asking.

Thanks for the reply. I've checked the add-ons before. Folder Options X is not a listed add-on. Is it supposed to be?

No idea. I don't know how Folder Options X works. You may have to contact the developer for support.

Folder Options X does it programmatically to force the older ListView control. The same can be done via Registry Editing. Use this REG at your own risk (no guarantees):
