When I want to change start menu settings I right-click on the start button to bring up the settings/help/exit menu. However most custom start buttons contain transparent areas and right clicking on them is like clicking 'through' the button: It brings up the Win+X menu as if you had right clicked on the normal windows logo underneath.

A workaround is to create start buttons which don't use more than 99% transparency but ideally right clicking anywhere on the buttons should work.

Also, it would be great if we could make the settings/help/exit menu appear by right clicking on empty areas of the main start menu :)

Agree to all suggestions however it's up to Ivo to make the final call.

I dont, this is by design IMO, its not hard to add 1% opacity to a button. and this way you can still have easy access to the win X menu by right clicking the corner, and the CSM context by clicking on the button itself
but of-course a checkbox in the settings would be acceptable :P

Unfortunately a lot of people submitting start buttons to the forum don't seem to have realised this so you have to edit any button you want to use (well any button with empty spaces).

My preferred solution would be to make it so clicking in the actual screen corner (i.e. drag the mouse as far into the corner as you can) brings up the Win+X while clicking anywhere else on the image brings up the CSM. But yes, there's always the check-box option...
