 Post subject: Force "auto sorting"?

When I add shortcuts or folders to other folders in the start menu, they stay wherever I drag & drop them until I click on the "sort by name" context entry. Is it possible to force sorting by name at all times? Thanks.

Yes, right-click on any shortcut in that folder and select "Auto arrange".

Funny, I tried that before and it didn't stick but this time the checkmark remains. Perfect - thanks much.

Actually, although the checkmark remains in place for Auto Arrange, new items just stay wherever I put them unless I click on Sort By Name (or uncheck & recheck Auto Arrange).

That's not normal. "Sort By Name" should be greyed out once Auto Arrange is checked. Can you show a screenshot of your right click menu where Auto Arrange has a checkmark but Sort By Name remains enabled?

Can you show me a screenshot of your menu that is having the wrong sorting, and a screenshot of the right-click menu?

Once you check Auto Arrange, all items in it should always be sorted by name. There is no need to sort by name manually which is why the function gets disabled. If items are not sorted despite checking Auto Arrange, show us a screenshot of the menu, please. They might be in another folder, which is why they might not be getting sorted.

Well, I've had a couple of anomalies with the software but in each case a reboot sorted everything out (including this one). For now, it seems to be okay. Sorry to have troubled you and thanks for the prompt response.
