As of the latest update, the Classic Start Menu's Start button is overlapping the left-most application pinned to my Windows 10 taskbar, as seen at this URL:

I can work around this by placing a useless icon (e.g. Internet Explorer) in that spot, but is there a setting I may be missing? :|

No; as that shouldn't be happening, though unchecking 'replace start button' MAY solve your issue, or trying various other options in that tab.
As a last option you could try creating a shortcut to: "C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe" -toggle" and placing it on the taskbar. It will act as a new start button.

Though we should get down to the real problem here, whats causing it
Try uninstalling classic shell, does this 'fix' the issue?
Try reinstalling the latest ver. does this 'fix' the issue?
Try reinstalling an older version to see if its a 'new' bug, does this 'fix' the issue?
What version of windows 10 are you on? (type 'winver' into the searchbox in the start menu)
Do you have any other Programs that tweak the taskbar or start menu? try disabling them?

Thanks for the reply!!

I tried unchecking "replace start button", no joy; the Windows start button appears and the underlying icon is overlapped. Haven't yet tried reinstalling but will do so.

Running Windows 10 version 1703 (OS Build 15063.674).

Uninstalling 4.3.1 Classic Shell: Windows 10 Start button reappeared, taskbar icon underneath hidden from view.

Reinstall 4.3.1 Classic: No effect, left-most icon lurks beneath the Start button.

Installed 4.3.0: No effect, same result as reinstalling latest version.

No other programs installed that interact with taskbar or start menu.

Is there any other program that may be changing the position of elements on your taskbar?

Huzzah!

I did have "7+ Taskbar Tweaker" installed, once I uninstalled it, my taskbar complied with my wishes.

I also use 7+ Taskbar Tweaker so it just might be a particular setting in it that causes this. If you can find it, let us know and let the developer of 7+TT also know about it.

P.S. I think you may have checked "Hide the Start button" option in 7+TT. That will obviously cause this behavior. It's not a bug.
