After installing 3.6.8 on system running Windows 8 Pro, USB ports started randomly dropping connection. My system has 6 USB 3.0 ports and different ports were losing connection for no apparent reason. A reboot reactivated the ports but others would then drop off. I finally figured out that the date of the upgrade to 3.6.8 coincided with the start of the problem and since I uninstalled 3.6.8 the USB ports have been stable.

That's very weird. Classic Shell doesn't do anything that can affect USB ports. Have you successfully used older versions of Classic Shell in the past? Does it matter what devices you have connected? The only thing I can think of is that you may be accessing storage devices through the start menu.

My bad! After removing Classic Shell 3.6.8, all my USB ports behaved for 48 hours straight leading me to believe the matter corrected. Unfortunately (for me) the problem has resurfaced and the USB ports are dropping off again. I will be re-installing 3.6.8 soon! This item can be closed.
