it seems there are 2 main programs which bring back Classic Windows settings to Win 7 & Win 8

I wonder if anyone can elaborate on the difference between these 2 programs, their features, options, effectiveness, customizeability, useability, interface, etc...

anyone tried them both out?

havnt used it, but i think start8 is mostly designed to mimic windows 7 start menu as closely as it can, and probably has less features than classic shell.
one feature i heard it had was the ability to open a 'window' of the metro UI that can cover a section of the screen instead of covering the entire screen, and it would be smaller and have scrollbars as needed. Display fusion has a similar feature

i guess it'd probably be geared towards (as the name suggests) windows 8 users.. so its more or less offering a standard Windows 7 menu shell over 8... so it would seem useless to anyone on windows 7 or anyone wanting to improve on the Windows 7 one

Do you feel something like me?
Normal people are being brainwashed to stick with shareware products & succumb to use crackwares.
They don't even learn existence about "Rare Gems" software they just stick with the well known ones.
Just because it's popular that doesn't mean it's the best.

There many rare gem such as:
Classic Shell, Start Menu Reviver, Viva Start Menu, Pokki Menu, Handy Start Menu, Win8 StartButton
But those normal people don't even google treasure hunting it....
"The internet is world wide there're many free rare gems out there."
If all of these freewares parade comparision together against Start8 will shred into bits.
