Is it possible to change the width of the search box? I am trying to reduce/minimize the width of my classic shell start menu. I have set the main menu width to 10, which is sufficient for my items in the menu. This works fine as long as I do not show the search bar. However, if I show the search box, which I would like to do, the overall minimum width of my start menu is limited by the width of the search box which is much larger. (I am using a windows 8.1 notebook with a high DPI screen.)

If you are using the Classic style you can reduce the width with the "Main menu width" setting in the Menu Look tab.
For Windows 7 style the setting is "Programs pane width" in the Main Menu tab.

Yes, I am using the Classic style and am using the 'main menu width' setting. However, the search box limits the minimal width. In the two attached images you can see the effect. I would like to have the search box width smaller - as small as the width of the start menu without search bar. In both cases the 'main menu width' setting is = 10.
