I upgraded from Classic Shell 4.0.4 to 4.0.5 yesterday, and since then I've had a bit of a problem. Sometimes clicking on things doesn't work. Sometimes when I click on something, all of the icons disappear from the desktop and then come back. Is anyone else having problems like this with the new version?

Also, I moved two icons on the desktop since then, and when the icons disappear and come back, they are in the old positions. Also, this time the installation of the upgrade didn't go smoothly - the screen blanked, and I had to reboot.

Actually, the problem of the icons going away and then coming back in a different place only seems to happen when I click on the Control Panel icon on my desktop. The Control Panel doesn't come up, but after the icons come up, then clicking on the Control Panel icon works normally (for a while).

Well, if I exit Classic Shell and end it in Task manager, and wait for a while before clicking on Control Panel, I still have the problem, so it probably isn't with Classic Shell. (When it blanks the icons and they come bask as they were a couple of days ago, it restarts classic shell too.)

What you are describing sounds like a crash in Explorer (potentially caused by Classic Shell). Please follow the instructions here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6
to capture a couple of crash dumps.

OK, I'm trying that. I also have a shortcut to my second hard drive on the desktop, and it does the same thing.

Also, yesterday I changed the setting for control panel from link to menu. Tonight I changed it back, but it had no effect on the problem.

A 64-bit version of ProcDump (ProcDump64.exe) appeared in that folder. It isn't in the zip file. Should I use it instead since I'm on 64-bit windows?

When you run procdump.exe it will create a new file procdump64.exe and run it automatically. You don't have to touch it directly.

OK. So far I haven't been able to crash it. It seems that you have to wait a certain amount of time. Now I'm going to bed - I'll try tomorrow.
