Hi,

love the new taskbar colour feature for windows 10. Is there any way you could add a feature to allow editing of the font colour in the taskbar as the white is hard to see with lighter colours?

Many thanks

Joel

I think thats something covered by a .theme: http://www.nirmaltv.com/2014/11/22/8-aw ... indows-10/

It should be noted that windows 7/8 themes will work on windows 10, but may contain minor visual issues (but there is a far greater selection available currently)

Try the Aero Lite theme in Windows 10: http://winaero.com/blog/enable-the-hidd ... indows-10/ It will give you black text for the title bar and taskbar buttons while also solving many other usability challenges with the default crappy Windows 10 theme.

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys. The aerolite theme worked perfectly for changing the open file names to black, but do you know how I can change the Quick launch Icons and time to black also, as they are currently still white?

The only way I know to make Quick Launch item names black is to put it inside the >> chevron which makes it turn into a flyout menu. Or hide the text labels for Quick Launch. The tooltip for Quick Launch items has black text on white background.

I don't know a way to change the text color of the taskbar clock. Maybe you could look for a clock replacement but most of them are ugly.

Well, if anyone's interested the native solution is using High Contrast themes.

Pros - make clock text black
Cons - introduces some strange visual problems - system tray icons remain white, but have a black border which in turn has a white border. System tray icons also develop a heavy black border.
Having tried changing theme colours it turns out that the white portion of the system tray icon border is linked to the window colour, so changing the colour to classic grey (240, 240, 240,) for example, leaves you with grey windows. The black border, strangely is controlled by the Window Text colour, but so is the clock font; resulting in a catch 22 situation where you can merge the borders with the taskbar colour, but it merges the clock as well...

I also tried modifying the areolite.msstyles file using msstyler, changing the three font colour values for Class ID 238: TrayNotify::Clock from white (255,255,255) to black (0,0,0), but this doesn't appear to work for some reason.

The following programs work all with windows 10 to replace system clock color

DSCLOCK

http://www.dualitysoft.com/dsclock/

Pros - Free. Has a nice range of customisable options including font, font colour, background colour, date/time display format, border etc. Has some other features like reminders
Cons - Doesn't replace the system clock, so you have to overlay it meaning it doesn't load until slightly after windows.

1stClock

http://www.1stclock.com/

Pros - Replaces system clock. Good range of customisable options. Has a bunch of other features like reminders calender etc. Wider range of skins (as opposed to block colour).
Cons - Expensive

also

Free Desktop Clock

http://drive-software.com/freedesktopclock.html

But this only allows for you to used provided themes.

Classic Shell 4.3.0 now lets you customize taskbar color and taskbar text color.

Which is what I'm trying to find out how to fix.

You see here, I made a Windows XP Transformation pack for Windows 10, and I'm trying to figure out how to change the system tray icons.
http://prnt.sc/dhrfbr
As you can see in the picture, the system tray icons interfere with the colour I'm trying to pick.:(
So, is there some way I could do it in classic shell?
Or will I need to use one of those icon changers?

By the way, I'm using the latest version of Windows 10, which is build 14393.351, version 1607
