I am seriosuly having a brain fart. How do I add the windows 7 start menu icon in classic shell under windows 10? I have downloaded pics from the forum but they come in 3 pictures horizontally and cant for the life of me figure this out.

right click your current button, go to settings select custom (from the start menu style tab) then click pick image, browse to your image hit OK

i've done that m8. what im asking is that all of the pictures in the zip files are coming as 3 icons stacked vertically. how do i choose just one?

You don't. You pick the entire file. The start button needs all 3 icons together.

that makes sense. do i just use the default settings? and let the app take care of it?

Depends. Some pictures are intentionally high-resolution to preserve the quality. You may have to tweak the button size if the default size doesn't work for you. The best size will depend on your Windows settings, taskbar size, and your personal preference.
