Lets say you want to put a link to an app somewhere other than the 'pinned' section of your start menu.. Here's how:
1. Create a new menu item 2. click the ... at the end of the link field 3. in the address bar type 'shell:AppsFolder' 4. select the app you want and hit 'Select File' 5. Now in the link field paste this text BEFORE the link that was generated: 'shell:AppsFolder\' 6. Press OK.

That opens the apps 'folder' sure but it doesn't open the specific app like calculator

Nope doesnt work; Tried it before.. it does populate; as Microsoft.WindowsCalculator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App but clicking the link in the menu does nothing

Use the full command in the Link or Command field. For example:
shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.WindowsCalculator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App
