My Windows 10 machine has been failing on the latest Windows update, and I finally tracked down why.
Apparently it's as basic as Start Menu items not being where Windows expects them.
But there's an easy fix:
- Right click on "Command prompt". Select "Run as Administrator"
- In the command window type run the System File Checker by typing in: sfc /scannow
- Wait a few minutes while it completes.
- Close the command window.
- Retry the system update.
It worked for me, though you'll want to move the items back where they were if you'd moved them before.
