There a way to -ALWAYS- search for whatever thats typed when CSM is active? By clicking on certain regions of CSM, it would sometimes launch a shortcut/link instead. example "d" documents, "r" recent items

while in "all programs" it doesnt do anything.

So I would like to search always.

Classic Start Menu supports keyboard accelerators which you see as underlined letters. To see them, press the Alt key when the menu is open. You can make the underlined letters always show by going to Control Panel -> Ease of Access Center -> Make the keyboard easier to use -> Check the option "Underline keyboard shortcuts and access keys".

When the focus is in the search box, you can press Alt+underlined letter to access the respective item. If the focus is not in the search box, then just press the underlined letter without Alt.

You can define your own keyboard accelerators and also modify the default ones. Put an ampersand character ('&') in the name of any item and it will act as the keyboard accelerator. e.g. &Run means Alt+R will open Run while the focus is in the search box (or only R when focus isn't in the search box).

You can also go to the "Search Box" tab in Classic Start Menu settings and uncheck "Selected by default" so you can use accelerators without having to press Alt. The search box can then be accessed by pressing Tab.

What im trying to say is it would be nice if there's an option to disable these keyboard shortcuts and ALWAYS search irregardless of focus.

Thanks though! I do understand what you're talking about

See this post: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=925#p4732 Press the Tab key to take the focus to the search box when it is not focused.

Yes, but sometimes we press keys by mistake and it opens something unnecessarily. Since CSM already has so many functions, maybe you could add this to your roadmap in future.

Thanks!

In the topic I linked above, there is already a way to disable accelerators.

Biatche,

In your Classic Shell folder, edit the file StartMenuL10N.ini in Notepad or your favorite text editor. Simply remove the ampersands (&) from the menu items that match your language, or just search and replace each & with an empty string.
