I am on latest version (3.6.5) and am running Win8 64-bit... Every so often, I noticed some flickering on desktop, is this a known bug/glitch? Please help if possible and thanks |

Flickering in other desktop programs or in Classic Start Menu? Maybe your display drivers are causing it. If it's outside of the Start Menu, Classic Shell does nothing to it. |

The flickering is the icons on the desktop, not in other programs or apps. It does not happen very often, only once in while... My computer is a Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q8102 laptop and the video card is Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M with 1.5GB video memory... |

Is it the same flicker that happens if you click on the Desktop and press F5? If so, that's the desktop refreshing itself. I don't know what might be causing it, but is most likely not related to Classic Shell. |

It is about the same as when desktop refresh, should I be concerned about this? |

It may be caused by something changing the contents of the Desktop from time to time, or it may be a bug in some program that tries to redraw one of its windows that was already closed (which may result in repainting of the Desktop). Here's one explanation: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/arc ... 45295.aspx Doesn't sound dangerous, but you may try stopping programs one by one to see which one is the cause. If it happens to be Classic Shell (very unlikely), then let me know. |

I need to close actual programs, or the Background/Windows processes? Only program/app running as stated by Task Manager is Firefox... |

To be sure, just log off and see if the flickering will resume if you don't start any programs. |

Log off as in computer restart, or "Exit" through right-click Start Button and then restarting Classic Start Menu? |

I think in Win8 it is called "Sign out". Basically exit the session, which will stop all programs even if they are stuck. |

Flickering is still happening. I did a restart when I updated my antivirus and the flickering happened twice within about 5 minutes. Only program I have running is Firefox... |

Sorry, I don't know what else to try. Of course if you still suspect Classic Shell, you can try uninstalling it temporarily. Your settings will be preserved for the next time you install it. |

I also have this kind of icon-flickering on the desktop. But I can tell you when it happens and how to "workaround" it. For ME it has to do with Classic Shell. Maybe in cooperation with other programs... The flickering happens when "Disable Active Corners" is set to "All" and the mouse is moved to the top of the screen. It only happens when the mouse is at the top. When I move a few pixels away, it stops. The flickering looks like a random "Morse Code" and not something "linear". If I enable Active Corners a Hand-Cursor appears when moved to the top of the screen and no flickering occurs. I am using Classic Shell 3.6.5 on Windows 8 64 Bit. I hope that helps. This is the only but an annoying problem. Apart from this, Classic Shell is awesome! Keep up the good Work! |

I can confirm what zazomazzo wrote. Exactly the same thing for me. Can we somehow help to find this bug? Thx for this great tool |

Everyone affected by this, try the latest public beta linked from the home page and report if the flickering is fixed. |
