This happened with the previous beta too. So I uninstalled it, installed the beta from yesterday and when I click Finish, an installer pops up saying "Configuring Steam, please wait". I have Steam, I use it on a daily basis, but I don't know how is it related to Classic Shell. After the installer disappears, everything works fine. |

Wait, what exactly is the problem? |

You still haven't stated clearly what the problem is. Is it "After Classic Shell installs the Steam configuration window pops up"? |

OK, now we are getting somewhere. What version of Windows are you using, and what version of Steam? Can you include a screenshot of the problem? |

Had a similar experience here, following the completion of the initial beta install and reboot. On Windows start-up, once at the desktop screen, the MS project installer ran - I have project already fully installed on this PC. Unfortunately, I could not reproduce the issue either by a subsequent re install or on the most recent beta. |

@Technik - have you logged out or rebooted recently before that? I know that some Office components register to auto-start, maybe MS project has something similar. Since those are usually self-repairing packages, it may be that something was corrupted (maybe an icon was deleted from the start menu?) which will trigger the installer. Does that sound plausible? |

That would be entirely plausible - as it was not repeatable and quite possible in moving some icons around something in the MS$ world became broken - it might be the same issue with Steam ? Ivo wrote: @Technik - have you logged out or rebooted recently before that?

lostprophet reported the problem appeared after the installer finished. I can't think of anything that will trigger Steam at that time. |

I have Win 8.1 and Steam installed. I installed the v4 beta last night and did not see this. Very strange... |

My guess is that Steam checks for updates when Explorer restarts. Explorer can restart after a logoff or during an install if you are upgrading from an older version of Classic Shell. I am seeing a similar behavior with 7TT, which tells me there is a new version every time Explorer restarts. |
