I surely appreciate the advice given here on how to edit the skin font using Resource Hacker. However, I am not a "Skinner", and updating to CS 4.2.1 has done much of the required work for me, as now I can expect both the Start Menu and Programs Menu to use the same font when I select the No Skin option in Skin and All Programs Skin. I can select any installed font in the Personalize menu chain, and it will reliably be used in both the Start menu and the Programs Menus.

There is just one more simple step I need, however. My eyes works much better with a pure white background (255/255/255), and the only background currently available for No Skin is 240/240/240.

Can a White Menu/Submenu option be added to the No Skin option? I will be happy to make another donation for the addition of this simple feature.

<No skin> is not a skin. It is intended to be a minimal skin with no bitmap elements or options. Use the Classic skin with no caption, edit the skin to add a white background.

Can't attach .png screen pics. Please tell me where to send them.

Sorry, Gaurav. You lost me. See attached Classic Skin picture for everything editable from Classic Shell 4.2.1. The RGB background is still set to 240/240/240.

Is it possible the white Classic Skin background appeared in earlier Classic Shell versions (which one?), but was dropped from v4.2.1?

Try these skins:

Extract the files somewhere and then copy them to C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\Skins.

Then open Start Menu Settings, go to the Skins tab and choose "Classic skin with white menus option".
