Hello everyone,

I really appreciate your product, thank you very much! However, I wondered if it would be possible to make the standard search function a little bit more useful, by integrating some features normally found in keyboard-based program launchers (quicksilver, launchy etc.). I know there exists a ton of programs like that out there, but i hate to install more programs than i really need, plus the basic functionality seems to be already there (searching, launching installed programs). For example, it would be nice to be able to add custom paths with programs/shortcuts zu be launched by typing their names (portable versions of programs for example).

However, it's just a suggestion. Of course, feel free to ignore this ;)

Well, you could add your shortcuts to the start menu and they will be searched. A program doesn't need to be "installed" to be in the start menu. And if you are talking about EXEs or BATs specifically, you can put them in the system path.

Here's how to add a folder containing EXEs to the system path to the Start Menu's search box will search it: Open Advanced System Properties (SystemPropertiesAdvanced.exe), Environment Variables. Under "System Environment variables", locate the PATH value and double click to edit it. Add the folder whose EXEs you want to be searched after a semicolon to the end of the path variable without erasing its existing values. e.g. if Path variable is already C:\Windows, make it C:\Windows\;C:\XYZFolder\ (end it with a backslash).

You can also create aliases for programs using Winaero's Win+R Alias Manager: http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.76
E.g. MSP for Paint, WP for WordPad etc. In the Start Menu's search box, these aliases also work like they work in the Win+R (Run) dialog.

Good day. Signed up for one purpose only - thank you so much that you are, long life and prosperity.
Not enough of a very comfortable thing I've ever enjoyed - a search for the file system. If possible, would love to see integration with Windovs Search.

@TimP, good news for you. Now the latest public beta version of Classic Shell which is available from the home page has full Windows Search integration, including file search. Try it if you are interested.
