Hello. I want to make IE display the page title but I can't select the right font size. I tried different fonts but it didn't help.
If I select size 9 (Arial) it seems to big. I wouldn't mind using it but the problem is the title is displayed a little bit too high so it touches the upper border. Can you fix this and shift the title a little down so that the title is in the middle and margins above and below it are equal? I tried sizes 8-12 and they're all displayed that way - too high (see the attached picture). Now if I select font size 8 the title becomes too tiny like it's actually size 7 (see the picture). The right font size I want is used by IE in the address bar and in the tab titles (C:\Util\Html\about-blank.html) as you can see in the pictures.

IE9 Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Please also note that IE has different title bar height when maximized and when not. When IE is maximized the title bar is higher and it seems you designed the caption for the maximized version only.

IE has a very narrow band at the top where I show the text. I can't move it or make it bigger.
The default settings Segoe UI,9 work fine for me. It is possible Arial has different metrics that don't quite fit.

For some reason, your IE top left icon is also going out of the title bar. Is it possible that your "Active Title Bar" and "Inactive Title Bar" settings have changed from the default? Open Personalization Control Panel -> Window Color -> Advanced appearance settings. Set the "Active Title Bar" and "Inactive Title Bar" sizes. The default size is 21. You can also increase it so that the text fits inside the title bar.

Yes, you were right, I set title bar height to 16 because 21 is more than enough. But when I set it to 21 and Segoa UI the title is still more aligned to top than in the middle, but it's not obvious (and the window should not be maximized). Also note that I still can't select the right font size 8, and it doesn't depend on font or titlebar height. For example I want Tahoma bold 8 (just like in Windows XP) but it looks like it's 7.

Here's the font I want (in explorer and in all Windows applications cause I selected it in Advanced appearance settings).

Yeah Tahoma, bold, 8 looks like 7 for some reason. But 9 looks good.

Not bad, I agree, especially with text glow, but size 8 is still better.
Ivo, do you really have absolutely no control over vertical positioning of the title? It would be perfect if it were shown 2 pixels below.

The band goes all the way from one end to the other. Anything lower will overlap with the Back button.
