Hi,

I'm trying to get my Windows Explorer as close as possible to its look on my XP system. I have it looking like the picture below.

Is there any way to reduce the space between the 'My Documents' and 'My Computer' icons please? In XP, there was no space between them.

I'd also like to reduce the space between the Favourites and 'My Documents' icons,

Thanks,

In Classic Explorer options (All Settings) -> Navigation pane tab, you can set the "Tree item spacing" to negative numbers (like -3 for example) but while it does slightly reduce the spacing between top level items from each others, it also reduces the item spacing between ALL items from each other, not *just* the spacing between top level items.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. I already have the Tree Item spacing set to -2, which gives me a good spacing for the non-top level items.

May I suggest the top level item spacing be alterable as a future enhancement?

Thanks,

What I see in your screenshot would perfectly fit me. Did you achieve this with Classic Explorers built-in options? Could you provide an xml-file of the settings?
Thanks in advance
Christof

Hi,

For Christof (or anyone else who wants it) I've attached my Explorer settings xml file.

Christof,

This thread:

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1858&hilit=Windows+7+Explorer+icon+spacing

also talks about changing the line spacing in Explorer.

It tells you to also install Folder Options X and gives you a pointer to where it is. Once installed, you need to check Disable Full Row Select, which also checks Enable icon reordering for you,

Regards,
