I'm running Classic Explorer 4.2.5 on Win 7 Pro x64.

The Classic Explorer Bar will not show in Windows Explorer.

I've been thru the FAQ and checked Internet Options & Internet Explorer add-ons. All items conform to the FAQ.

In WE, under View, I have the Classic Explorer Bar option, but it does nothing.

I have run CS in the past on this computer and un-installed it via Windows Add Remove Programs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Due to a bug in Windows, sometimes File Explorer can get confused between addons, especially when there are multiple addons and one of the addons is updated or uninstalled & reinstalled. To fix this, open Registry Editor (Regedit.exe), go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser and delete the ITBar7Layout value. Thereafter, Explorer should not get confused which toolbar it enables/disables. After deleting the ITBar7Layout value, you must disable and enable the Classic Explorer toolbar once again in Explorer via the View menu (on Windows 7) or View tab of the Ribbon (Windows 8 and above).

The above steps must be done of course in addition to all the Classic Shell related addons being enabled via Internet Options -> Programs tab ->Manage Add-ons.

- Is "Enable third-party browser extensions" option enabled on Advanced tab of Internet Options?
- Are both "Classic Explorer Bar" and "ExplorerBHO Class" enabled in Manage add-ons?
- Is Classic Shell's Explorer component installed? You can reinstall to register it correctly again. Download the installer of the version which you have installed and do a "Repair" installation.

I had done the first two already.

I repaired the install, rebooted and still same result.

Then I don't know how to fix your problem. Your toolbar might already being showing but maybe it has no buttons or it's dragged out of view and the toolbars are locked. Open Classic Explorer Settings and try adding some buttons.

Also, open Control Panel, press F10 and right click the Menu Bar. Unlock the toolbars. Then see if you get an empty toolbar with a draggable handle.

Tried the Control Panel idea - Toolbars unlocked already.

Note that Classic Explorer Bar shows in as an option in Toolbars, but won't ever show with a check mark. I click it and the window flashes, but nothing displays.

Thanks for your help!

As a last resort you can try resetting the Classic Explorer settings. Go to the settings, then from the Backup button at the bottom select "Reset all settings".
Make sure you are resetting the Classic Explorer settings, and not the settings of the start menu.
