Post subject:  Is there a good way to remove Classic Explorer panel?

I use certain features of Classic Explorer (like the status bar) but I do not use the panel. I tried to disable its shell extension but the context menu item for Classic Explorer panel still remains. Is there a good way to disable the panel entirely and get rid of the menu item as well?

Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Manage addons, and disable the "Classic Explorer Bar" addon. Read the messages carefully to make sure you don't disable any other related components.

This removed the status bar as well, which I do use.

It shouldn't. You probably also disabled the ExplorerBHO addin as well.

Well, you are right, it also disables Explorer BHO by default. Well, if to disable Classic Explorer Bar only, the menu item for it still there, but greyed. I think I would not get any closer than this, and it is at least better than having non-greyed and non-working item. Thanks.

For me the menu item is gone (Windows 10). Possibly it works differently on other versions of Windows.
