I'm configuring a new Windows 10 machine and trying (not very successfully) to get everything looking the way i'd like it to.

The one nice thing that went as easily and effectively as hoped was being able to swap out the start menu with Classic Shell, but there's one little difficulty i can't seem to resolve.

In Win7 the Start Button is aligned with the top of the task bar. In Win10 the Start Button is vertically centered. (I usually have my taskbar expanded to three rows, since i've also uncombined and ungrouped the taskbar buttons. )

In the Classic Shell "Start Button" settings tab there is an "Align to corner of the screen" option under Button look->Custom button, however that puts the button at the bottom of the taskbar, which is the opposite of what i want.

It would be nice if there were some basic options to control where the start button goes (top, centered, bottom would be a good starting point.)

Until such a feature is added, is the "Align to the corner of the screen" option setting something in the registry that i could tweak to get the effect i want? Or can i create a button image that has a large transparent section on the bottom that will force the visible portion of the button to the top of the taskbar?

Thanks!

Yes you can create a button image with a large transparent section on the bottom that will force the visible portion of the button to the top of the taskbar.
