So windows 10 rolls with a new feature called 'task view' which is quite similar to alt+tab (actually I would say I'd like it better, If I can get it to behave properly)
To my knowledge(after searching about 15 minutes on google) the only way to bring it up is to click the icon on your task-bar....
I was curious if anyone knew how to bring it up via desktop shortcut(preferably) and/or hotkey

Win+Tab runs Task View. You could also create a AutoHotkey script/compiled EXE that sends Win+Tab keystroke to open Task View.

Ah thanks, that's the hotkey I was looking for :P and yea I was aware that with a hotkey I could force it to open via AHK (I was just hoping there was a way to create a direct shortcut to it :P

I would say its definitely compatible. Assuming you are on windows 7, 8 or 8.1 the upgrade should be quite simple. Turn on automatic updates in control panel(if its off) then soon you should see a white windows icon in the system tray on the right of your taskbar. Click it and follow the instructions.

"Switch between windows" located in C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch doesn't seem to work in Windows 10.
Any ideas?

Flip 3D (Switch between windows) was removed in Windows 8. Task View is its replacement although it lacks Desktop as a switchable location.

Ok, so I have one more problem and some time ago I found a way to fix it. Now I can't.
I was working on my desktop with Rainmeter and I got everything working:

On the default Windows taskbar you have a "show hidden icons" button (red circle):

I need a shell location to access it or a program that would open the tray, while the taskbar is hidden.
Something like RunAndHide.exe from THIS website, but opening the tray instead of a start menu.
Then I can just make a Rainmeter shortcut to open it.
