I have Windows 8 (64 bit) and am using Classic Shell Windows 7 look. When I tried to install drivers for my HP 6500 All in one printer I chose the Windows 8 64 bit ones but when I tried to install it said I was running Windows 7 and would not complete the installation. If I choose the Windows 7 drivers will they work or do I need to uninstall Classic Shell and install the Windows 8 drivers then reinstall Classic Shell?

I would appreciate any advice anyone else has on solving this problem.

Classic Shell doesn't affect the Windows version. Sometimes Windows tries to pretend it is a different version if it detects an incompatibility. Or because it tries to be funny (unsuccessfully). Go to the properties of the driver installer and see if you can see any compatibility settings.
