Post subject:  Skin7 transparency (resource hacker).

Hi,

I have read the skin tutorial (many times), I googled the forum, searched the forum, tried with resource hacker for hours and generally googled. I am having problem finding a solution:

  • Using Windows 7 start menu style
  • editing the "Windows Aero" skin
  • skin7 file
Can I make the white space (shown with the red arrow) in the picture below transparent?

No. This is not supported. The reason is that the area is used as a background for the programs tree, which is a system control. System controls don't work with transparent backgrounds. So basically "fullglass" and "fullalpha" are not allowed for the main menu.

Thanks man, I was getting to that conclusion after the many experiments I did.

You can edit the bitmaps of the similar looking skin in the Classic styles though to make that white area transparent. The Classic styles do not have the tree view so you can use fullglass, fullalpha etc.
