Try running ClassicStartMenu.exe manually. See if the classic menu reappears. If so, something is preventing it from starting automatically.
Check the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. There should be an entry named "Classic Start Menu". Its value should be "C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe" or similar.
While looking for information about something else, I saw this link and since I will be installing all three Classic Shell components on to a Win7sp1 64-bit laptop I wondered: What Progam files program will Classic Shell install itself into: the 64-bit Program Files folder for 64-bit software, or the Program Files (x86) folder for 32-bit software?
