So while registering, I tried going to the https version of the forum. Didn't work.

This should be fixed, both for registrations & logins, as you're entering secure data (email & password) and of course it should be made default. Registering or logging in through an insecure page shouldn't be an option.

Hm, I need to research how this is done. I think I would have to purchase a security certificate.

if your worried use/make a spam email account for websites/forums such as this, and dont use the same password you usually use on them... :P
Its not like this website host your creditcard info or anything, all that is done on a secure page..
