Will there ever be a Windows 10 Start Menu style? I understand why the live tiles could be an obstacle, but...I think a Windows 10 style with no live tiles is better than no Windows 10 style at all. Clearly you can get the icon, colour, and name of modern apps, so what more is needed for dead tiles? ._.

Its not drag and drop, but you can certainly have a tile-like theme with a bit of effort; Here's a screenshot of a 'test' menu I just made to show how it looks, without even editing the skin (which Id imagine removing the icons from the left, or using small icons on left, and large on the right would make it look even better) (Icons found here: http://dakirby309.deviantart.com/art/Metro-UI-Icon-Set-725-Icons-280724102 )

Though no 1x2 icons or whatnot :P

only with 'classic with 2 column' style
go to the customize start menu tab
Create a new command (custom works best)
Then check the box 'Insert Sub-items as buttons'
Then create new items and nest them under the command we created first, change icons and viola..
Also this feature has been around even longer than this forum or even windows 8 :P
The only down-side; so every row should have the same number of icons for best results. I find 4-8 looks best, but it could be 16 icons wide if you desired...

Why do you want tiles is the question. What's wrong with icons and text?

Huh. I'll need to play around with that...

Nothing.

I don't know why, all I know is that I do .___.
Hmm...come to think of it, this might be part of why:

Tiles are a decent way to store lots of links in a small uniform space... Unlike Icons they create a sense of uniformity and organization because they are all the same shape.. which is aesthetically pleasing.. This combined with the minimization of background space of squares give tiles a unique and 'professional' feel when compared to if they were all round.. They are however only useful once you are familiar with the current layout because its harder to remember an icon than a name... (though its easier to spot a remembered icon, than a remembered name)
The purpose of 2x1 and 2x2 and 4x1 tiles is mostly for dividing them up for easier recall.
I have android, Iphone, and windows phones, and I Prefer windows phone above the others; with exception to the low quantity of apps available... (If they could allow android apps to run native on windows phone, that would be amazing) because In my opinion its just easier to find what your looking for with tiles, as opposed to 'icons'

That said I dont particularly like them in my start menu; as I don't tend to have more than 20 items held within (I can search for anything else with just a few keystrokes, which essentially renders tiles obsolete IMO)
