Lenovo Thinkpad - T410 (4 GB RAM)
Windows 10 (32-bit)
Classic Shell 4.2.5

I have a set of Windows 7-Pro 32-bit laptops being upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 32-bit.

Windows Update was run to assure that Win 7 was complete and no more updates were necessary.

Windows 10 was then downloaded and applied. Windows Update (what ever they call it under Win 10) was again run to be certain.

Classic Shell 4.2.5 was then downloaded and freshly installed and set up. Also installed a current version of AVG anti-virus.

The odd thing I have is that the Task Bar along the lower left edge of the screen works for a period of time then what ever icons have been pinned there disappear. I usually have to restart the system to bring them back, or go to the Classis Shell settings menu and switch the icon set, then switch it back.

This was consistent across three upgraded systems.

After some experimentation, my fix was to allow Windows 10 to leave its own "start" icon in place and NOT replace it with the Shell or START menu icon that is available with Classic Shell. This made the icons on the task bar stable and they no longer disappeared. There was no difference if I made the icons large or small either.

I have not seen this behavior with a system that I upgraded from Windows 7-Pro to Windows-10 pro on a similar Lenovo T420 64-bit system - yet. I also have not seen this behavior on a Dell laptop system upgraded from Windows 8.1-home to Windows 10-home also 64-bit.

The suggestion is this is relevant to 32-bit versions of Windows -10, in this case Win10-pro.

Otherwise, anyone else seen this behavior?

Can you provide screenshots with and without the problem so I can compare them?

I have the exact same problem after the Windows 10 Anniversary update, with Classic Shell 4.3.0. All icons disappear from the taskbar after about 10 hours. The taskbar becomes transparent. Please notify me of a solution.

As Ivo requested, please provide screenshots if you can. You can take a screenshot by pressing Win key + PrintScreen key. It will be saved in your Pictures folder.

Also we need more info. Does the taskbar remain but icons go blank? Or the entire taskbar disappears and reappears? That may be Explorer.exe crashing and restarting. If the entire taskbar is disappearing and reappearing, capture a crash dump: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6
