I use only the "Classic Start Menu", not the "Explorer". I installed the update and had the following symptoms:

1. CSM(Classic Start Menu) seems to occasionally steal focus from the active window.
2. I've lost access to the Notification area. Click does nothing.
3. The Windows key does not bring up the "Windows Start Menu"
4. "Win key I" does not bring up Windows Settings.
5. "Windows Settings" from the CSM menu does not bring up Windows Settings.

I reverted to the old release and everything returned to normal. I reinstalled the new version, everything broke as above. I reverted to the old version and it got well again. It seems to be indicative of a problem.

P.S.
I am running Windows 10 16251.1000.amd64fre.rs_prerelease.170721-1512

Well, pre-release versions of Windows are not supported. Too many things change each new build to keep on top of them.

Ivo,
Thanks for the reply.
I'm thinking there is some handshaking going on between CSM and one of the other modules that I don't have installed. There may be a dependency where CSM may not be as capable of running stand-alone as it was in the previous build.
Thanks,
Grouch

That's unlikely. The separation between Classic Shell components hasn't changed in years.
