Using Win 7 Professional SP1
I can select the classic style with 1 column in the settings and the start menu will change to the single column but next time i start my computer the start menu is the classic with two columns, when i go into settings the Classic style 1 column is still selected and without doing anything the start menu will then be back to the Classic style 1 column. Any reason why this would be happening ?

Regards

Download the Classic Shell Utility from here: http://www.classicshell.net/downloads/
Run it and send me the log file.

I did that and it appeared as if it reinstalled the program. I can't however find a log file anywhere. What would the name of that be and where would it be located ?
Regards

Most likely you downloaded the installer again. The utility is near the bottom.

Hm, everything seems OK. Let's try something else:
Log off and log in
Verify that the wrong menu is shown (with two columns)
Open regedit and go to the key HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu
Export the entire key to a .reg file, zip it and attach it here

You were right at first I downloaded the program itself and must have reinstalled. I just rebooted and now the 1 column start menu was there.
By the way, in which folder is HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu
I found this in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IvoSoft\ClassicShell
Ihd to change the extension of the file to .doc since .reg is not allowed.

Are you saying that the problem is fixed now? That after a reboot it correctly shows one column even without going to the settings first?

BTW, you saved the HKLM key, not the HKCU key.

It appears that way, I will keep an eye on it and will let you know if I have any problems. Thank you for the help.
Regards
I am not sure where you find the HKCU key, I have attached the regedit folders.

HKCU is abbreviation for HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Don't do anything unless the problem reappears.
