Its kinda question that has been bothering me for quite a while since the first time I installed QTTabBar & Classic shell goodies on my machine. Neither QTTabBar's toolbars nor Classic Bar are visible in "Save as" and "Open" Common Dialog Boxes. These are the boxes that appear when u open a new file through the application menu (photoshop, paint whatever) or when u save a file as a new one.

Could anyone just tell me why Classic Toolbar does not work in Common Boxes? Basically QTTabBar, DmexBar, CS provide toolbars with extra functionality that are capable of replacing native windows shell elements such as address bar or navigation pane. But this makes a little to no sense since disabling native explorer's nav bar and/or nav pane means that u WILL NOT be able to browse while in Common Dialog Boxes. With nav bar disabled I couldnt even save an image from my web browser to the directory I want. Thats the reason why I dont use Classic shell. Nor will I ever install other third-party add-ons unless they are proven workable in Common Dialog Boxes.

Having said that I want to know whats difficult in making toolbars WORK in both normal explorer window and Common Dialog Boxes such as "Save as" box and "Open" box. Is it really that complex to implement?

Question #2. I know Classic Shell allows to increase spacing between icons in Tree View. See attachments.

Since CS does overwrite windows default XML and DirectUI preferences stored in explorerframe.dll and shell32.dll I think that it might be possible to take advantage of this and manipulate spacing between icons in Details View.

Or totally change the size of icons from 16 to 24 or 20. Which is what I wanna do.

Is that possible? Can Details View icons be resized? Is there a way to increase spacing between icons in Small Icons View, Details View?

Classic Shell does not overwrite XML or DirectUI data.

Ok, I thought it does when modifying default properties such as colorization of the taskbar, opacity / transparency and spacing between icons.

Doing anything like this is a guaranteed way to get an endless list of compatibility bugs. Unlike Microsoft I don't have a compatibility lab with access to thousands of applications to play with.

How does Bbleanskin titlebar work then and why does it function in "Open" and "Save as" boxes? http://bb4win.sourceforge.net/index.html. It just blanks explorer dwm titlebar and puts a proprietary bar of a given height on top of it which is additionally packed with a set of caption buttons and "Label" box. On my end, it works flawlessly and has no compatibility issues. Is that bar any different from all the other bars with added functionality that are being developed for windows?

By the way is it theoretically possible to resize icons in Details View?
